NASC will award $100,000 to 80 outstanding students from NASC member schools. Applications for this scholarship will open in the Fall of 2024, with winners selected in early 2025. The top recipients and their advisers will have the opportunity to attend an all-expenses-paid trip to DC for NASSP's National Education Leadership Awards in April 2025, along with awardees of the National Honor Society scholarship, National Principal of the Year, and National Assistant Principal of the Year.

NASC Scholarship

The National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship

Since 1946, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) has awarded more than $23 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS seniors. This year, NASSP is awarding $2 million in scholarships to 600 students.

Each year, scholarship recipients are selected based on their demonstration of the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

To be eligible, a student must be:

  • A high school senior expecting to receive a high school diploma during the current academic year.

  • An active member in good standing of a National Honor Society chapter, meeting all membership requirements and obligations of the local chapter.

  • An NHS student account holder, verified by the NHS chapter adviser.

  • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. college or university.

Note: There are no limits to the number of applicants per chapter.

UNITED STATES

SENATE YOUTH

PROGRAM

The United States Senate unanimously passed a resolution in 1962 creating the United States Senate Youth Program, a national initiative to provide a yearly opportunity for talented young people with demonstrated leadership abilities to deepen their understanding of America’s political processes and strengthen their resolve to pursue careers in public service.

The program is merit based and highly competitive. The United States Senate Youth Program brings the highest-level officials from each branch of government together with an outstanding group of high-school students—two high school juniors or seniors from each of the fifty states, the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Education Activity—during an intensive week-long educational program held in Washington, D.C. In addition, each student receives a one-time $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship.

While this program does award a college scholarship, in many ways, it is more of a recognition, in that each school may only nominate one student to apply per year. Interested students must first determine their school selection process and gain the support of their school prior to applying.
