Present a Student-Led Workshop at the
State Conference This Fall By: Courtney Black and Julie Gehret, Workshops Committee Chairs Feel the Rhythm of Leadership! Boyertown is buzzing with excitement about the 2013 State Conference! In preparation for the conference, the workshops committee has been working to improve the efficiency and organization of the sign-up process. In the past, workshops were graded by hand. In order to decrease the time it takes to grade each workshop, the committee created an online process. Student delegates can find the link to the workshop application upload under the workshop tab at http://pasc2013.org/. PASC HOODIES FOR SALE- ONLY $18 plus shipping It is a good heavy-weight hoodie in Black with “PASC” printed in Hot Pink, Neon Green, Neon Blue, or Neon Yellow. (Please see picture) If you would like to order one, the cost is $18 plus $4 for shipping- sizes available are small through 3XL. Scholarships
United States Senate Youth Scholarship Program Two student delegates from each state will be chosen to receive $5,000 college scholarships and the opportunity to spend a week in Washington, D.C. (all expenses paid) with delegates from across the nation. Every Pennsylvania high school principal will receive the Senate Youth nomination packet in late- August. Applications are also available on the Pennsylvania Department of Education and PASC websites. Each school may nominate one outstanding student leader to be considered for the scholarship. To be eligible for the Senate Youth scholarship, a student must be a high school junior or senior and must hold an elected position in student council, class government, or regional or state officer position in a statewide organization. Postmark deadline: October 17th $310,000 in Horatio Alger Scholarships https://www.horatioalger.org/scholarships/index.cfm The Horatio Alger Association is accepting online applications for the Class of 2013 due no later than October 25, 2012. Please share the following information with your Guidance Department and with students that you know who fit the following criteria: The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need (under $50,000 adjusted gross family income), a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. National Scholars Program: Three Pennsylvania students will be selected to each receive a $20,000 scholarship and will be invited to the National Awards program in Washington, D.C. Pennsylvania Scholars Program: This program annually awards $5,000 to 50 seniors in Pennsylvania NASC Scholarship: A Horatio Alger Scholarship for a student council member in an NASC and PASC Member school. On the application when you see the question: Are you a member of Student Council? CLICK on YES and then answer all of the student leader questions.
