Last week, Halifax High School hosted the statewide conference at the Hilton in Harrisburg! With a three-day two-night stay, it was definitely action packed.
The first day (Thursday) included a trip to the state Capitol building and the opening ceremony. The students got to hear from a keynote speaker Eric Alexander, who helped a blind person climb Mount Everest amongst other accomplishments!
The next day involved workshops that covered many different topics such as networking, communicating effectively, and saying no to the status quo. After lunch, Donald and Joshita went to each of the regional caucuses and discussed what the positions were, how to apply, and what the selection committee is looking for in candidates. Later, there was a keynote speech by John Beede who also had climbed many mountains around the world and motivated students to really climb to there dreams. There was a banquet followed by a dance at night.
The last and final day included the closing ceremony and a speech by Amanda Hammett, a former CEO whose company was caught by the Secret Service for committing international fraud (don’t worry, she didn’t do anything illegal- it was her partner).
After a long but rewarding weekend, everyone left with a different attitude and outlook on life. PASC is truly up to great things!
