KEEP IT CAMPAIGN
PASC has played a major role as one of the sponsors for this program. Our Advanced Workshop delegates have championed fund raising efforts and delegates at other PASC workshops contributed books to their library project in 2009. Several member PASC Student Councils have done some very exciting projects to support this global outreach.
We will be looking for other ways that PASC as an organization and our individual member schools can continue to embrace this effort in 2011.
1.) MAKE THE COMMITMENT!- volunteer twenty-six hours of time in a focused way by supporting one project or organization with your effort.
2.) TELL YOUR STORY!- use social media and online resources to share your individual successes and best practices.
3.) KEEP IT GOING!- recruit at least two people who agree to make the same commitment and then “Keep It!” after you’re done.

The "KEEP IT!"Campaign Working together with the project manual created by students at North Allegheny and Kathy Coll, PASC alum, Bob Tryanski, has agreed to sponsor and support a statewide contest to recruit member schools to "act locally, reach globally" by sponsoring Dodgeball Tournaments at their schools. The goal of the Dodgeball Tournaments is to fund our continuing efforts in Ivory Park AND to support community needs in your own home town. The idea is to follow the model being implemented by "Keep IT!" partner school, Oak Park Elementary. At Oak Park students have created a "sunshine fund" to support both global and local needs through the "Keep It!" Campaign. Here is a quick overview of the contest details: -Our goal is to recruit sixty schools to sponsor "Keep It!" Dodgeball Tournaments before October 15, 2011. This is a challenging goal, but we believe that a more chalenging goal will yield more signficant results.

The First "Keep It" Project
Through the first "Keep It" project, The Campaign for Ivory Park, students were challenged to act locally and reach globally by helping to build a community of hope in Ivory Park, one of the poorest townships in South Africa. Thanks to the Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils, in 2011, hope is alive and well today in Ivory Park.
- To date, the “Keep It” Campaign for Ivory Park has raised $20,000 towards its overall goal of $50,000.
- A library has been built and the first round of books is already on the shelves.
- We have been able to fund the salaries of three full-time teachers for an entire calendar year.
- A fourth teacher's salary has been covered by regular monthly contributions from a small group of PASC alums who have embraced the "Power of Ten" concept by contributing ten dollars a month.
